Retailers Prefer to Keep the use of Face Masks as a Requirement

  • By John Delorian
  • (General Dispatch) – After Greg Abbott announced the lifting of the security measures, retailers in Texas and Mississippi prefer to require their customers to wear masks.
  • These have been the last states to speak out against the lifting of the measure. President Biden criticized this authorization and defined it as “Neanderthal thinking”.
  • Biden spoke out saying that this type of measure is too hasty, which could continue to trigger an increase in cases in these states. Even though the lifting was ordered, retailers are backed through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC, which recommends that everyone two years of age or older should wear the mask.
  • Two retailers Target and Kroger “will continue to require each in our stores nationwide to carry masks until all of our frontline grocery associates can receive the COVID-19 vaccine,” CBS news said.
  • A Walgreens representative confirmed to CBS news that their staff will maintain ethics even if a customer does not get to wear a mask, however workers will use protective measures in accordance with the CDC.
  • “If a customer is not wearing a mask or face cover, we will refer them to our signage and ask them to help protect themselves and those around them by listening to the experts and heeding the call to wear the mask,” the company representative said.
  • Workers should avoid arguing with customers. It is recommended that this type of measures continue to be complied with until 2022 and that no hasty decisions are made.
  • For now, a partial opening of the United States is foreseen; the vaccine has helped to reduce the transmission of cases. However, to date only 8% of the population has been immunized.
