- (General Dispatch) – Around 10,378 foreign criminals are at large on the streets of Great Britain, despite having a criminal record and being candidates for deportation; the government of Great Britain has ignored them and has not taken the necessary measures.
- The Home Office reported that a large number of criminals have remained in Great Britain after their release from prison, evading the authorities to avoid deportation.
- The number of criminals has increased dramatically. Before the pandemic the number was less than 4,000 in British communities, but when everything got out of control with COVID, it made deportations more complex.
- In the last quarter of 2020 only 3374 offenders were deported, only a small fraction of the total currently living in the country.
- In addition, there are 9,000 criminals of different nationalities in prison, which represents more than a tenth of the prison population. Measures are being sought to ensure that when they are released they can be deported immediately.
- These actions have endangered citizens; some prisoners after being released have returned to violent actions, an example is the case of Khairi Saadallah who a few days later carried out an Islamic terrorist attack killing 3 people with stab wounds.
- Priti Patel, the Minister of Home Affairs is considering deporting foreign offenders who have short sentences, trying to reduce 12 months to 6 months.
- As long as Britain remains under the jurisdiction of the European Convention on Human Rights, they will not be able to send offenders back to their home country if they are suspected of inhumane treatment.
