- (General Dispatch) – In order for children to be able to identify their gender identity, the bill being contemplated in the city of California prevents toy stores from separating toy sections by gender, as well as clothing must be gender neutral.
- According to Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia, leader of the Women’s Legislative Caucus. “This message is about inclusion. It is only intended to achieve that children are children.
- With a sense of belonging, the legislation seeks to reach a greater potential of human talent in various activities that were previously stereotyped for a particular gender, limiting the creative potential of people at a very early age.
- If this bill becomes a reality, we would be developing “a truly amazing set of skills in our children”, since their creativity will not be limited by any factor, said Garcia in his message.
- The analysis coming from the regulation obliges commercial establishments oriented to children to publish advertisements that favor a specific gender.
- In this perspective, some legislators commented that currently several companies are beginning to implement this regulation, making inclusive advertisements that do not distinguish gender identity and that so far it has been developed with total normality.
- Californian citizens expressed that this is a great achievement, in which sooner or later the city should begin to experiment in order to continue advancing as a society.
- It is important to mention that if the bill becomes law, it would become effective at the beginning of the year 2024, and would carry penalties for non-compliance.
