U.K.-U.S. Trade Agreement Discarded as Biden Offers Priority To China

  • By Ely Márquez
  • (General Dispatch) – The Biden administration is focusing its attention on trade agreements with China, while leaving aside trade agreements with the United Kingdom, U.S. sources told a British newspaper.
  • Everything seems to indicate that the trade agreement established by Trump during his term in office with the United Kingdom is going to the past. The priority now goes to China. This after the interests hidden by Biden, and of which the UK wonders why?
  • In hindsight, Trump would have secured nexus with Brexit, to grant various benefits to the nation, which in UK rhetoric’s and the covid-19 crisis itself is not intended to continue with the deal.
  • However, Biden has not missed the opportunity to state that the relationship with Brexit would be coming to an end, as it is not part of his interests.
  • The Democratic Party in its attempts to maintain rational policies, presented the previous week, the commercial agenda designed with around 308 pages to promote free trade agreements with the United Kingdom.
  • Experts assure that the trade agreements with the United Kingdom have been of great help to the nation. But, to keep it standing, political backing is required to make it happen.
  • Trade representatives of the current administration are directing their efforts to consolidate a trade agreement with China, and consider the United Kingdom as part of the past; by the middle of the year, the current contract would be ending and they would be detached from present ties.
  • It has been demonstrated that the policies emanating from the White House hide many particular interests, since the changes provoked in little more than 50 days in office have radically altered the nation’s economic performance.
