- (General Dispatch) – According to a survey, a large number of U.S. residents support the “Voter ID Law” and about 75% agree with its enforcement, including 60% of Democrats.
- Some democrats are against this law and through Hr1 the so-called “law for the people” have wanted to repeal this type of law, such a bill has been sent to the senate for evaluation.
- The democrats hope that the “people’s bill” will pass. According to them, the Republicans want to apply the new law to limit the vote to people regardless of their color, sex or religion.
- On the other hand, the Republicans said that this law does not seek to discriminate against any person, it is necessary to have a better control at the moment of reviewing the results of the electoral elections.
- The Senate is evaluating the renewal of the way in which elections are conducted, noting that the survey conducted by the majority of Americans agree that a photo ID should be required before voting.
- 36 states have promoted the ID law, but Democrats hope the Senate will pass Hr1 to give them authority to overturn such a measure, with some critics saying that what Democrats are promoting “would force states to allow anyone to vote who simply signs a form saying they are who they say they are.”
- Hr1 is a simple affidavit and does not ask for any kind of identification from the voter, and if it passes there is no way it would require any kind of document from people, which is why Republicans are against the measure.
