  • By Anton Grillo
  • (General Dispatch) –  A bill is being considered in the State of Utah, with the intention that mobile devices at the time of sale contain an application that restricts access to pornographic content.
  • The State legislature launched the proposal, which is already in the hands of the governor, Spencer Cox, who will finally have the last word.
  • The deadline to make the decision will be until March 25, the measure includes mobile devices and tablets.
  • If the decision is affirmative, it will come into force in January 2022 the devices include an application that blocks pornographic content in children and adolescents, while people of legal age will have the opportunity to choose the option.
  • In this perspective, the legislators took the initiative in reference to statistics that point to the consumption of pornography at a high level, especially from mobile devices.
  • One of the implicit advantages of the regulation is that parents can be confident that their children will remain mentally healthy.
  • On the other hand, opponents of the measure say that it is an attack on freedom of expression.
  • Ultimately, it will be up to the governor to determine the bill’s passage, and commentators say that the companies that manufacture the devices will refuse to restrict customers’ service.
