- (General Dispatch) – The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) conducted an economic study to determine the cost of the amnesty bill that the Democrats want to impose, which is $35 billion over 10 years.
- The ambitious amnesty bill seeks to legalize more than 11 million undocumented immigrants, making a big change in immigration, but in order to be approved it must have the approval of the House of Representatives.
- A minimum of 60 out of 100 votes are needed to pass, and in the House of Representatives it will require all Democratic votes and 10 Republican votes, an issue that has generated a political debate.
- The “Dream and promise” bill also called Hr 6 aims to give green cards to those immigrants who are in the country as temporary TPS protection, apart from giving citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.
- Several Republicans have expressed their disagreement with this proposal, while the Biden administration is hoping to negotiate with Congress for its approval, despite the fact that it had requested a package of millions of dollars for the pandemic.
- According to a study, there are 17 million unemployed in the U.S. as a result of the covid 19 health crisis. This law was approved on March 18 with 228 votes in favor and 197 against, with 9 votes from Republicans.
- This has been one of the political factors being carried out by the Biden administration in the hope of granting citizenship to a large number of immigrants.
