Asia is Displaced in Scopes Against Covid-19

  • By Anton Grillo
  • (General Dispatch) –  The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that Asian countries such as Hong Kong, China and many others are being outpaced in terms of the effectiveness of a coronavirus vaccine and achieving effective distribution.
  • According to statistics, China and Hong Kong have vaccinated approximately 5% of their total population, while the rest of the countries that make up the mainland have been immunized at 3%.
  • Meanwhile, the United States and the United Kingdom have vaccinated a range of 25% to 45% of their population, as a result of efforts aimed at counteracting the Chinese coronavirus.
  • The newspaper also stated that China has halted the outbreak somewhat due to strict measures implemented to prevent the spread, but not because of effective immunization.
  • Dr. Anthony Fauci of the White House has estimated that COVID-19 requires approximately 70 to 85 percent of a given population to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity.
  • Another issue in China is the refusal of a fraction of the population to receive the vaccine for fear of side effects.
  • In contrast, the United Kingdom and the United States have made it a priority to distribute the vaccine to all their members, starting with adults who are more vulnerable to infection.
  • Governments are channeling their resources to promptly carry out an effective distribution that will halt the wave of contagions that the continent and the entire world are still experiencing.
