Transgender Athlete Bill Introduced by Governor Kristi Noem, Will Not Pass

  • By John Deloria
  • (General Dispatch) –   This Monday, South Dakota’s legislative session will be held to decide whether the transgender bill introduced by Governor Kristi Noem that prohibits biological boys from competing in girls-only school sports activities will proceed.
  • In contrast, House Representative Spencer Gosch reported that he will seek to persuade members of the Senate to soundly reject the bill.
  • In the meantime, the current governor is making every effort to achieve her goal and to ensure that there is no alteration to the guidelines sustained for many years, in her conservative sense.
  • Critics are of the opinion that she should not limit the freedom of transgender people to practice a sport of their choice just because it is only for biological girls.
  • Meanwhile, criticisms against the governor have not been long in coming, as her position is very radical and outside the perspectives of many senators.
  • Now, the decision is not an element that can be determined jointly by the governor and the state legislature. It is really a titanic task to be able to agree in this context in the face of the different positions.
  • The differences between the senate and the governor’s office are quite evident, possibly this will take time on Monday when the decision will definitely be made.
  • Senators and transgender representatives hope that this project does not end up becoming law, and that it is a new achievement so that people with transgender identity are not outside the rights enshrined in the constitution.
