- (General Dispatch) – The Paris AP media reported that French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to announce stricter measures, following an increase in cases of COVID-19.
- Macron is evaluating to close all educational institutions, after maintaining restrictions at their lowest levels; on the other hand he intends to block domestic travel in the nation.
- The French president is evaluating changing the strategy against COVID 19 as previously the inhabitants were under the imposition of a curfew, a measure that has not yielded positive results.
- The increase in ICU patient admissions to hospital facilities accelerated after a spike in cases due to the third wave that had been announced by the European Union commission.
- However, new restrictions to be imposed by Macron will be debated in parliament on April 1, as current blockades have been applied and vary according to regions.
- Government representative Gabriel Attal said a response will be expedited after hospital officials spoke out, claiming they should prioritize certain emergencies and placing patients with less serious health problems on hold.
- In response to the hospitals’ announcement Attal said, “One thing is clear: France will not refuse care to any sick patient. Choosing patients is not an option.”
- The situation of the health centers has been complicated, after about 5000 patients with respiratory problems were admitted on Tuesday, a high number since the start of the pandemic of COVID 19.
