Keir Starmer Criticizes Possible Implementation of the Vaccine Passport

  • By Jennifer Prill
  • (General Dispatch) –   British politician Sir Keir Starmer has criticized the Conservative Party for wanting to support the “vaccine passport” measure that Minister Boris Johnson wants to implement.
  • Keir said that in view of the successful vaccination campaign that the country has had, he does not see the need for the “vaccine passport” to be implemented as it generates discomfort in the British people.
  • “My instinct is that if we control the virus properly, mortality rates are close to zero, hospital admissions are very, very low, that the British instinct in those circumstances will be against vaccine passports,” Keir said.
  • Some officials were surprised, after Keir split from the Conservative party, from that split he began to generate criticism about the vaccine passport measure.
  • On the other hand Liberal Democrat home affairs Representative Alistair Carmichael criticized Keir for not showing certainty about his political stance and being so indecisive.
  • Political member Carmichael said that the project that is being raised by just asking permission from the state to go to a bar or a cinema is against British principles, for such reason the liberals should raise their opinion against this measure.
  • The position adopted by the Liberal Democrats has caused an impression after having been against the separation of the United Kingdom from the European Union, now they seem to be in disagreement with the Conservatives.
  • In conclusion, if the Conservative Party approves the “vaccination passport” measure, it would do damage to itself and even infringe on the freedom of the British people, so Boris’ report is expected to be presented at the end of June.
