Le Pen is Predicted to be the Left-Wing Candidate in France

  • By William Silgueiro
  • (General Dispatch) – A poll conducted by polling firm Ifop has predicted that candidate Le Pen would beat all left-wing candidates in the second round of the presidential commissions.
  • The candidate’s margin of victory would be wide, defeating far-left candidates such as Jean-Luc Melenchon who is estimated to get 40% against Le Pen.
  • Candidate Yannick Jadot, who focuses on applying environmentalist measures, may obtain 50% against Le Pen, such statement comes from a communiqué of the leftist mayor Anne Hidalgo.
  • One of the contenders so far that may complicate in some way Le Pen’s candidacy, is the center-right Xavier Bertrand, managing to obtain 59 percent in the poll.
  • Even Bertrand is above the current president Emmanuel Macron who has 55%, and his popularity has decreased since he has received strong criticism for the management he has carried out against the coronavirus having negative results.
  • Although the survey has evaluated different candidates, it has a high rate of certainty that candidate Le Pen faces President Emmanuel Macron, in the second round where the winner can be defined.
  • The former French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner asked the left-wing candidates to focus on Le Pen as the threat to the commissions, and stop seeing Emmanuel Macron as their adversary.
  • By now different firms have conducted several polls and have come to the conclusion that both the first and the second round will be a close confrontation between both presidential candidates.
