Muslims Celebrate Ramadan Despite Covid-19 and Health Restrictions

  • (General Dispatch) – This Tuesday begins the celebration of Ramadan in the Muslim population around the world, but once again it will be subject to strict measures that limit the development of the usual activity.
  • Although the festivity will be developed with less rigid measures than in 2020, the tradition of the Muslims will still be commemorated.
  • It should be noted that the commemoration includes activities such as fasting, long prayers, and night parties with family and close friends. And the usual visit to the mosques.
  • During the development of the activities, Muslim citizens do not eat or drink for long hours.
  • So far the development of the festivities has complied with the biosecurity protocols indicated by the health agencies, especially the social distancing.
  • One of the requirements to access Mecca, home of the Kaaba, the holiest site in Islam, is that people must present proof of vaccination against the coronavirus.
  • Similarly, other places around the world that celebrate Ramadan will be doing the same to avoid the spread of contagion.
  • Ultimately, strict border controls will also come into effect this Tuesday, due to the new outbreak of the virus that is once again affecting hundreds of citizens.
