Survey Reveals that Japanese do not want the Olympic Games

  • (General Dispatch) – The media outlet UPI reported that a statistical survey revealed that the majority of the Japanese community disagrees that the Olympics should be held.
  • Some 70% of the inhabitants have shown their annoyance at how ineffective and inefficient the government has been in handling the coronavirus immunization campaign even though it is focused on the Olympics.
  • The survey was conducted in the second week of March, revealing that 39.2% oppose the holding of the games, while 32.8% advise that the games be held at another date.
  • Citizens have been worried about a possible fourth wave, triggering again another outbreak of the coronavirus, spreading in an accelerated manner since the government’s management has been negative.
  • However, a portion of the population is still in favor of holding the games, specifically 24.5% despite the difficulties posed by the coronavirus, and they advise that it can be held as long as people abide by biosecurity measures.
  • Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga warned that although there are a large number of people who want to avoid the games, it will not be possible as the nation has invested billions of dollars.
  • According to the media outlet Sports Illustrated revealed the amount invested $25 billion, this being one of the largest investments for the Olympics.
  • The popularity of the games among the inhabitants decreased after the government announced the restriction for foreign organizers to participate and help the development of the event, Breitbart News reported.
