- By Steph. G, Halston.
- (General Dispatch) – Raul Castro announced Friday that he is stepping down as head of the Communist Party of Cuba, after continuing the legacy of his late brother Raul Castro.
- Castro claims that after several years of hard work, he is stepping down so that a group of young politicians with passion and great anti-imperialist impetus can continue with the mandate.
- The former president affirmed that he will continue the struggle and is sure of the understanding of his allies and compatriots for having made this decision.
- The defense of the homeland, the revolution and socialism will continue to be framed with the arrival of the new cabinet, Castro assured.
- After ten years in office, after the death of his brother, Raul Castro hands over the leadership, and leaves the party pleased with the work done during these years.
- Current President Miguel Diaz Canel will probably assume the leadership of the Communist Party with Raul Castro’s departure.
- In the meantime, Cuba will continue under the same guidelines and executive orders it has held so far.
- It appears that the leader of the Communist Party will continue to live on the island, and support other areas of the government.
