- (General Dispatch) – Border Patrol agents attached to the marine unit found two young children abandoned on the banks of the Rio Grande River in south Texas.
- The infants were apparently abandoned by human smugglers, and were in the river sheltered under some bushes despite the cold water.
- The agent who became aware of the incident quickly approached the site where the children were located and took them into the boat to provide them with protection and security.
- The Border Patrol agents were later able to determine that the children were two Honduran nationals, and had no family members.
- One of the agents revealed that these types of scenes are truly heartbreaking, claiming to be unprepared to deal with events of this nature.
- However, this is one of the many cases of abandonment of children along the border, both in U.S. and Mexican territory.
- The situation is becoming increasingly complex for border security agents, as they have many responsibilities to fulfill and the flow of immigrants is greater than their capacity.
- The dramatic situation continues to escalate, while the White House refuses to accept that the border crisis is beyond U.S. control.
