Guilty Capitol Protester Captured by Facial Recognition

  • (General Dispatch) – Media outlets have reported that they have captured the alleged troublemaker in the case of violence that was generated in the capitol through the new facial recognition system.
  • Apparently the system was applied on the Instagram social network, and unveiled the subject named Stephen Chase Randolph who was arrested in Harrodsburg, Kentucky on March 20.
  • Authorities related that the alleged suspect on the day of the incident at the capitol, assaulted several police officers, who were trying to prevent Randolph from passing, however he acted violently knocking one of them down causing him to injure his head.
  • Days after the incident at the capitol the FBI began an arduous investigation to attempt to capture # 168-AFO as his identification was unknown at the time, using a facial comparison tool that was previously used.
  • A statement was made by an FBI official who assured that through facial recognition they were able to get an Instagram user being Randolph’s girlfriend, who had photos with the troublemaker on her profile.
  • The FBI kept the investigations and through the girlfriend’s Facebook they managed to get the data where they could locate him they arrived at his workplace where he was asked questions about his possible performance at the capitol.
  • Randolph claimed he was involved in the event, and told officials that chaos took over the capitol, which was fun for him to be present at the criminal events that day.
  • “Randolph’s arrest is the first high-profile acknowledgment that a facial recognition system was used to actually identify a suspect in the Capitol riots rather than confirming the identity of an existing suspect” said the FBI official.
