CDC Director does not yet Know When Biosecurity Measures will be Discontinued

  • By Joergen Haisem
  • (General Dispatch) – The Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Rochelle Walensky, does not yet know what the exact date will be for declaring masks obsolete.
  • Walensky said that it is a complex issue, since the majority of the population will have to be immunized to start discussing the issue of biosecurity measures if they become necessary or not.
  • The director managed to answer a couple of questions that different citizens asked through the social network twitter, one user said that he had already been given the vaccine, but his concern was to know if he could travel on public transport without the mask.
  • “Congratulations on being fully vaccinated! You should always wear a mask over your nose and mouth when in public places, incl. public transportation,” Walensky said in response to the tweet.
  • For now the director said the CDC is conducting studies to evaluate how safe it would be to remove the use of the mask, while they are conducting the immunization campaign.
  • The death rate has risen sharply since the Biden administration took office, the immunization campaign has been delayed with some vaccines after presenting some side effects.
  • The current CDC policy is to continue to enforce social distancing; advising that the only way not to wear a mask is when outdoors without people around.
  • Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, estimates that by 2022 the use of the mask will still be maintained, however he hopes that by next year the levels of infection will decrease.
