- (General Dispatch) – A motion by a group of MPs has been tabled in the House of Commons affirming the crime being committed by China against the Uighur ethnic group.
- Although the action by the MPs does not indicate that the government will implement sanctions against the CCP, it will make it known to the international community that the British are against the genocide taking place in Xinjiang.
- The vote will be symbolic; however countries such as the US, Canada and the Netherlands have made their position known against China, pointing out that crimes against humanity are being committed.
- According to BBC media reported that although the vote was not approved in its entirety, Conservative ministers preferred to avoid participating in the proposal by parliamentarians.
- Conservative member Nigel Adam although not entirely sure said “determining whether a situation amounts to genocide or crimes against humanity is a matter for the competent national and international courts after considering all the available evidence.”
- Currently the Xinjiang issue has generated great importance before the Human Rights Organization where the Uyghur ethnic group has attempted to denounce China for the acts it has committed since the creation of the concentration camps.
- The Chinese authorities have committed everything from sexual abuse to castration and sterilization of Uyghur women without their consent, as well as forcing them to work long hours for cotton production.
- Several conservative members have been sanctioned by the Asian country, but they have spoken out about the crimes and hope that international justice will be applied and not set aside because it is a “big and rich” country.
