- (General Dispatch) – Reports have revealed that former Prime Minister David Cameron lobbied Minister Philip Hammond for the 2017 approval of a Chinese investment project.
- Currently Cameron has been involved in moving his influence to get different economic projects approved through the government, the biggest example being the negotiation he has done with Chinese partners.
- According to the British newspaper The Observer reported that in 2017 Cameron had held a meeting to discuss the $1 billion “UK-China fund”, where he will assume the position of vice chairman.
- Currently Britain’s legislation prohibits some interference by former ministers for two years, those who try to get involved in decisions made by the government.
- However Cameron managed to escape this legislation unscathed, as at the time he still had no direct work with the Chinese investment fund, and there was no reason for the authorities to act.
- However, in 2018 Labour MP Peter Dowd, Phillip Hammond wrote through a letter that Cameron’s intentions were to “create a UK-China trade fund to invest in innovative, sustainable and consumer products, driven growth opportunities,”
- Although Cameron only claimed to influence in a certain way, this type of project has generated debate since apparently the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (Acoba) said that the former minister will assume the position of Vice President being this remunerated, for such reason it would be necessary the application of the British law.
- The media have stated that Cameron, including Tony Blair, have been involved in countless agreements with the CCP, regardless of the crimes against humanity that the Asian country has committed over the years.
