Joe Biden Approves $15 Minimum Wage for Federal Contractors

  • By Anton Grillo
  • (General Dispatch) – U.S. President Joe Biden will sign an executive order increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour for federal contract workers.
  • The signing will formally take place this Tuesday, with officials from President Biden’s administration celebrating the achievement that will lead to greater worker productivity and job benefits.
  • The White House assures that Biden’s decision promotes the economy and effectiveness in federal contracting by ensuring that workers improve their quality of life.
  • Although the White House administration did not project the exact number of beneficiaries, it is assumed that a large number of workers will receive the wage increase starting in the next few days.
  • It is worth noting that the wage increase corresponds to 37% in which workers will go from earning $10.95 per hour to $15.
  • However, the increase includes janitors, maintenance workers, nursing assistants and cafeteria operators, among many others.
  • As such, all federal agencies are required to include the higher wage in new contract offers by January 30, 2022.
  • Undoubtedly, this is another of the executive orders that the Biden administration is issuing for the benefit of the country’s labor sector, which is expected to provide the pertinent benefits and not generate greater inflation at a time of economic recession.
