Bill Gates Calls on British Government to Maintain its Foreign aid Program

  • By William Silgueiro
  • (General Dispatch) – Billionaire Bill Gates has called on the British government to maintain foreign aid programs, even though the spending comes from taxpayers’ contributions.
  • Gates said he felt it was unfair that while rich countries are now vaccinating young people, poorer countries are still keeping many of their most vulnerable citizens unimmunized.
  • Dominic Raab, the Foreign Secretary, had announced in November last year that the budget for foreign aid programs would be cut from 0.7% of GDP to 0.5%.
  • Gates said via Sky News “The needs there are dramatic. Voters should be very proud of the impact of UK aid. It has been the strongest advocate backing vaccines and making sure we eradicate polio.”
  • Gates was amazed, however, that the pandemic had a major impact on those large nations; the coronavirus wave was more severe in comparison to those in developing countries.
  • Gates said that action must be taken quickly to send large quantities of doses to nations such as Brazil and South Africa to immunize the 60-year-old population before it is too late.
  • Apart from the United Kingdom, the billionaire has made the same request to the United States to have a greater presence, despite the fact that the Biden administration has had high mortality rates due to coronavirus.
  • Gates, however, remains at the forefront of fighting the coronavirus to help nations that require assistance, however recently the World Trade Organization (WTO) was created and backed by the CCP, in order for rich nations to provide assistance to poorer nations.
