- (General Dispatch) – Media have reported that several celebrities will be present at an event called “VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World” in order to raise funds.
- Among the celebrities will be present Prince Harrys, Duchess of Sussex Meghan, who were elected as chairs by the non-profit organization Global Citizen, and will be supported by Kamala Harris, and the Biden family.
- The date of the event is set for May 8, and will be broadcast live on major U.S. broadcasters ABC, FOX and CBS, with the couple hosting the event at all times.
- It is expected that with the money raised, raise a program in order to supply vaccines to the poorest nations, to begin the immunization campaign to the most vulnerable population.
- “We cannot leave anyone behind. We will all benefit, we will all be safer, when everyone, everywhere, has equal access to the vaccine. We must seek equitable distribution of vaccines and, in that sense, restore faith in our common humanity. This mission could not be more critical or important,” the couple said in a statement.
- The event will feature celebrities such as Ben Affleck, Chrissy Teigen, David Letterman, Gayle King, Jimmy Kimmel, Nomzamo Mbatha, Olivia Munn and Sean Penn who will deliver messages about how necessary vaccine equity is.
- There will be musical presentations where Selena Gomez will be the host, and will be supported by Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, among others, as well as the participation of high political officials such as Emmanuel Macron, Justin Trudeau and Andrej Plenković.
