- (General Dispatch) – In his speech this Friday, President Joe Biden assured that the United States of America is willing to work hand in hand with Europe. He took the opportunity to apologize for the handling of the Trump administration.
- “The last four years have been hard but Europe and the United States have to lead with competence once more,” Biden said
- “I know the past few years have strained and tested our transatlantic relationship, but the United States is determined to re engage with Europe, to consult with you, to earn back our position of trusted leadership,” Biden add
- The president promised to work with the European Union, and also assured to work closely with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whom he called a good friend.
- Merkel was one of the constant sources of criticism of the Trump administration, while the former president also repeatedly confronted the German chancellor.
- “Let me erase any lingering doubt, the United States will closely with our European Union partners, and the capitols across the continent,” Biden finished.
- The president also spoke of the competition with China and Russia as the European Union’s main allies, in what he expects to be a close contest.
- The new administration in control of the White House proposes to return to the nation’s historic trade allies, where not only trade and economic agreements but also climate change agreements are expected.
