- (General Dispatch) – With the notable arrival of face-to-face classes this fall, Rutgers University will require covid-19 vaccination as a safety precaution.
- Taking into consideration the White House’s security policies that mass distribution of the vaccine will arrive this May 1, the university has decided to implement this requirement.
- The University President’s Office stated that it is committed to the biosecurity measures necessary to return to a seemingly normal scenario, which will give students greater confidence in their return to classes.
- It should be noted that Rutgers is one of the first universities that will apply rigorous procedures in defense of its directors, faculty and staff in general.
- It should be noted that the requirement will exempt those students and staff of the university who for health reasons or religious beliefs are unable to take the vaccine.
- However, “university officials insist that “widespread vaccination will accelerate the return to pre-pandemic normalcy on university campuses”.
- However, even though all members of the university are immunized, biosecurity measures will remain in place, including social distancing and the use of face masks.
- It is expected that this fall, before the return to classes, the vast majority of students and university staff will be vaccinated to mitigate the possible effects of covid-19.
