- (General Dispatch) – The Justice Department under the Biden administration leaked a report that if the court found Derek Chauvin not guilty he would still be arrested.
- The Minnesota StarTribune news outlet reported “Before Derek Chauvin’s murder trial, Justice Department officials had spent months gathering evidence to indict the former Minneapolis police officer on federal police brutality charges, but feared the publicity frenzy could disrupt the state’s case.”
- Biden’s fear was that the Black Lives Matter activists might riot, so he was devising another plan to convict Chauvin on criminal charges to speed up the process, which does not require a grand jury.
- Although former police officer Chauvin was also to be charged with murder on three counts, federal prosecutors intended to attach a civil rights violation to the charges.
- The federal judges’ intent came after Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison on Sunday said there was no evidence that Floyd’s death was motivated by racial hatred.
- “I wouldn’t call it that because hate crimes are crimes where there is an explicit, prejudicial motive, We have no evidence that Derek Chauvin had any regard for George Floyd’s race as he did what he did” Ellison said.
- Now, it has been reported that the other officers who were on the scene (J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao), when Chauvin murdered Floyd, will be charged with civil crimes by federal judges.
