Indians Self-Medicate Against Covid-19 for not Being Treated in Hospitals

  • By John Deloria
  • (General Dispatch) – The media New Delhi AP reported that the population is opting to purchase drugs on the black market without any quality registration.
  • The ineffective attention of the hospital centers is leading citizens to look for other alternatives in the face of the large number of cases of covid-19 infection that have been witnessed in recent days.
  • So far India has recorded 379,000 cases where the mortality rate has risen to 200,000. Hospital centers are at maximum capacity, and workers are doing their best to attend to patients.
  • Cemetery workers are surprised at the large number of people who have been admitted, presenting problems to get some space to bury the bodies.
  • On the other hand, the facilities that offer cremation services have had technical problems since the metal parts of the ovens have been melting as they work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • The Ministry of Health advises the population not to use other types of medicines, however, remdesivir drugs, oxygen and steroids in hospitalized patients have been scarce, causing deaths of people who could have been saved.
  • The great debate that has arisen is why India, being one of the world’s largest exporters of medicines, is witnessing a shortage of these drugs.
  • Now the government authorities will act against the black market that is being generated, since certain drugs are being sold above the normal price, however, in desperation, citizens end up acquiring the drug.
