  • By Wayne Rodrigo
  • (General Dispatch) – Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York City is betting everything that the city can reopen this July 1st, leaving behind the covid-19 restrictions applied as a security measure for more than a year.
  • Apparently, everything is ready for stores, theaters and offices to open their doors without any inconvenience, a measure taken after the vaccination against the coronavirus has been administered to a large part of the population.
  • It is important to mention that it is not known if schools and other educational centers of all levels will be able to return to normal, because this is a decision that is up to Governor Andrew Cuomo.
  • Initially, Blasio plans to lift the restrictions in response to President Joe Biden’s call to boost the country’s economy after the pandemic.
  • However, health officials are expressing concern about a Romanian variant that is causing new disruptions in several cities in other countries and are urging the mayor to consider the measure.
  • Undoubtedly, the city of New York needs to give continuity to the lifting of the restrictions, and it is doing it in a progressive way, the purpose is to continue strengthening the economic recovery that is beginning.
  • To this end, the city’s commercial sector is establishing certain agreements to develop the work dynamics that will be in effect as of July 1 and that will guarantee jobs once again.
  • Although the decision is not officially a fact, the probabilities that it will be fulfilled are quite high, which gives hope that the mayor will issue the executive order in the coming days.
