Terrorist Group Boko Haram has Killed More Than 1,500 People so far This Year.

  • (General Dispatch) – Local media in Nigeria have reported that the terrorist group Boko Haram killed approximately more than 1,500 people in the first month of 2021.
  • The death toll at the beginning of 2021 has been high with the death toll for the whole of 2019; the deaths come to be linked to extrajudicial gang killings, resources, kidnappings and Boko Haram attacks.
  • There is a list of the countries that are most affected by terrorism, Nigeria is in third position after Afghanistan and Libya. In 2020 it had the most serious drop in deaths attributed to the Fulani people.
  • The deaths caused by Boko Haram have been increasing due to their new way of acting, being even more active in Nigeria and countries such as Cameroon, Chad and Niger, causing great insecurity and danger for the nation.
  • There are conflicts in northwestern Nigeria over grazing where extremist groups from the Fulani ethnic group act violently with small-scale kidnappings and robberies against the Hausa group over water and cattle.
  • The terrorist group has carried out attacks on educational institutes, carrying out kidnappings because they are against the teaching of Western education, claiming that Islam must be professed.
  • Former military chief Abdulsalami Abubakar said Nigeria risks becoming an ineffective state unless it takes steps to improve security.
  • “In the last two weeks or so, tension has been growing in the country and the embers of disunity, lawlessness and disintegration are spreading rapidly and if care is not taken, this could lead us to a point of no return,” Abubakar sentenced
