Sacedore Creates Shelter for Immigrants to Reach France

  • By James Kravitz
  • (General Dispatch) – Large numbers of migrants are passing through to France thanks to the help provided by an Italian shelter that was founded by the priest Luigi Chiampo.
  • The shelter called “Fraternità Massi” has been located in Oulx in the province of Turin near the border with France since 2018, where it has been supported and financed by the NGO Talità Kum.
  • The parish priest Chiampo said via Agence France-Presse (AFP) that his help in no way affects the work being done by the authorities at the border, who constantly patrol the area to stop migrants.
  • The agency conducted some interviews with the migrants, where one with Tunisian nationality said he was determined to go to France as he has a family member, and his country has nothing to offer him a good future.
  • Reports have revealed that about 56% of Tunisians who have managed to opt for Italian citizenship in 2012 to 2017, after acquiring the benefit of free transit in the European bloc can move to another country without any inconvenience.
  • The main reason why Tunisians choose to leave Italy is that the country does not have a work plan that can offer young people, so they prefer to go to another country that can offer them personal growth.
  • The French authorities even arrested two pro-immigration activists after they helped an Afghan family to reach French territory by evading the police.
