- (General Dispatch) — Talk radio legend Rush Hudson Limbaugh III died of lung cancer at the age of 70 on Wednesday morning
- Kathryn Limbaugh, wife of the conservative radio icon, announced his death at the beginning of Limbaugh’s program.
- Kathryn said: “It is my profound sadness I must share with you directly that our beloved Rush, my wonderful husband, passed away this morning due to complications from lung cancer.”
- Limbaugh, the ‘voice of American conservatism’ had been battling Stage 4 lung cancer since January 2020.
- The talk radio legend, who is the host of The Rush Limbaugh Show, served the said program for 32 years and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump during the State of the Union on February 4, 2020 just days after announcing his diagnosis.
- In addition, Trump thanked Limbaugh for his decades of tireless devotion to the United States of America during his address on the said event.
- The Rush Limbaugh Show has over 15 million listeners and a listener expressed grief: “He was a great American patriot shining the light on the dark liberal agenda in our country. I started listening to him when he first started at KFBK in Sacramento and have been a faithful follower ever since. I will miss him greatly.”
- “The world of conservative commentary will never be the same. Irreplacable- that’s the only word to describe Rush.” another follower commented.
- “A true conservative, brilliant man. Listened to him for 30 some years, no one will ever fill his shoes.” a fan wrote.
- Limbaugh was born on January 12, 1951, in Cape Giradeau, Missouri.
- In his last broadcast of 2020, Limbaugh thanked his listeners for their support and said: “I wasn’t expected to be alive today.”
