- The league that has been described as an ally of the Lgtbq+ community this time has decided to keep silent because of what is presumed to be the large number of millionaire partners it has within the Chinese Communist Party.
- It’s worth remembering that 2017’s All Star was canceled in Charlotte, North Carolina due to state law limiting the use of bathrooms to people with their birth gender, which caused the league to opt not to run the game that year in the state.
- “But what we have stated is, our values are league-wide values in terms of equality and inclusion, that is paramount to this league and all of the members of the NBA family. - The ruling of this court in China is retrograde and detached from the current moment in which we live, even the same country has made progress since the 1990s to achieve equal rights for gay people.
- The silence of the NBA and its top leaders has made various sectors of the lgtbq+ community consider whether the league’s support is genuine or just to create empathy with the league’s consumers.
- In the Asian country, reactions have not been long in coming from various platforms which claim that the decision is random and baseless, others more conservative remain silent.
- The NBA is expected to issue a statement of support in the coming hours, as it did for the Black Lives Matter movement, ratifying its position in favor of gender rights and equality.
