Russians Want a Government Without Putin

  • (General Dispatch) – The Levada center conducted a survey where Russians dream of seeing another political figure other than Vladimir Putin at least before the incorporation of Crimea, Ukraine.
  • Apparently Putin’s reputation had grabbed strength with the occupation of Crimea, but currently the economic factor has influenced the discouragement of the population slowly consuming the pillars of the government along with the persecution of opponents.
  • Currently there is an ongoing problem attributed to the Russian president for having arrested the opposition leader Alexei Navalny, where he was deprived of his freedom just as he touched Russia after recovering from an assassination attempt by poisoning in the German nation, Such apprehension generated protests throughout the country.
  • According to the survey the data obtained was 41% prefer to see Russia with a new president by the year 2024, among these we have men and young people who seek a new change along with women who gave a result of 35%.
  • Russia’s news outlet Moscow Times stated that “This is the biggest objection to Putin’s re-election since October 2013, when the proportion of those opposed to the prospect of his fourth term was 45% against 33% in favor.”
  • Apart from Navalny’s case Russians are in discontent over the way Putin has handled the pandemic, where the figures are triple what the Russian government claims to be 4.2 million people infected by covid and 80,000 deaths approximately. Therefore, it is presumed that the figures have been made up before the international community.
  • Russian doctors have stated that the state has not provided them with the necessary protective equipment to be able to help people who have presented symptoms of the virus.
  • Putin alleged that all this type of denunciations and information against his government is due to a destabilizing campaign of the West that seeks to suppress the ideals of the Russian society.
