  • Facebook plans to develop a Smartwatch with messaging, health, and fitness features that will be available in the market next year and will have a second-generation as soon as 2023.
  • This plan is part of its continuing efforts to move into hardware manufacturing and pull much more private information by biometric data.
  • Thus, the said Smartwatch will pull up the wearer’s private information, which is harmful or dangerous according to critics.
  • The news has ignited concerns on whether or not it can be trusted as it may track wherever you are and wherever you go.
  • This kind of device has caused a stir among consumers thinking that they cannot trust Facebook their personal data and that the Smartwatch is just a keen way to track them.
  • The Smartwatch will be Android-based but the assurance to run on Google’s Wear OS is unknown as of the moment.
  • On the other hand, Facebook is developing its own operating system for its hardware devices and future versions of the Smartwatch.
  • CEO Mark Zuckerberg discussed Facebook’s growth in the world of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. He emphasized that: “we should be teleporting, not transporting.”
  • Zuckerberg believes that Virtual Reality is the way forward to allow people to experience new places and things without leaving their homes.
