  • By Anton Grillo
  • (General Dispatch) – According to the Brussels AP media, the European Union warned the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca that from now on, if it does not comply with the production of doses, new measures will be applied.
  • The European Commission led by Ursula Von der Leyen has faced complications for the immunization of the European population which is integrated by 27 countries, according to this conflict is attributed to the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.
  • The pharmaceutical company revealed that it has had complications in the plant to increase production levels; however the European Commission says that it has not complied with the clauses imposed in the contract.
  • The European Union has been the victim of constant criticism after it has been compared to the US and UK who are leading the way in the number of people immunized through their campaigns.
  • Sandra Galina, head of the European Commission’s health division, attributed all the blame to the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca because Europe was confident that this vaccine would be at the forefront to be applied.
  • It was expected that the means of transport would be simpler, and its cost is lower than that of other vaccines; on the other hand, it had been determined that the pharmaceutical company should produce it in large quantities, something that has not happened.
  • Galina said regarding production “We are not even receiving a quarter of those deliveries as far as this issue is concerned”, for this reason the European Union said it would take action on the matter.
  • For now the EU is expecting a delivery of 400 million doses from a contract it had made with an Anglo-Swedish company last year.
