Greenpeace Defends Iran Over Ecoterrorism Accusations
- By James Kravitz
- (General Dispatch) – Greenpeace defends Iran after an Israeli minister accused them of Eco-terrorism after a serious accident at an oil refinery in the Mediterranean.
- Greenpeace director Jonathan Aikhenbaum said that such accusations are politically motivated, as elections are coming up on March 23 in Israel and it is a strategy of Gamliel to be re-elected to the candidacy.
- Aikhenbaum complained about this type of statements through the social network twitter making known the true face of the Israeli government and how they act in the political arena.
- The large oil spill reached Israel’s Mediterranean coast, leaving a serious environmental picture of so many kilometers of tar that it stretched from the Gaza border to Lebanon.
- Gamliel referred that a Libyan-flagged vessel carried out this disaster with full intentions, coming from Iran and said “Our long arm will reach anyone who damages our nature, our sea or our coasts.”
- Aikhenbaum referred that this spill could have been carried out by another ship, and they claim that if they say such a statement they should present evidence to determine the veracity of their accusation.
- Political tension has been increasing between the two countries following an attack by Iran on an Israeli vessel sailing in the Gulf of Oman.
