Chaldean Archbishop Sees Pope Francis’ Visit as a Gift to Iraq

  • (General Dispatch) – The Chaldean Archbishop of Erbil, Bashar Wardan, considered the visit of Pope Francis as a gift for the nation of Iraq.
  • The visit was seen in the world as a heroic and courageous act on the part of his holiness to come to our nation mired in conflicts and wars,” said the representative of the Catholic Church, thanking the Pope who visited the country this weekend.
  • The Pope was thanked during the weekend for the prayers of those who are persecuted, violated and marginalized in the Iraqi territory.
  • Likewise, the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church issued a message of unity, peace, brotherhood and forgiveness for the people who need it so much, harboring in them feelings of hope.
  • This Monday at very early hours the pope took his flight back to the Vatican, after having completed his mission in Iraq.
  • At the same time, the leader of the Catholic Church stressed the importance for the country to begin to practice forgiveness and rebuild the ruins left by war and conflicts between brotherly peoples.
  • In a message, the Pope expressed his gratitude to Iraqi President Barham Salih, who gave him amazing hospitality and care during his stay in the nation.
