Biden says no vaccine when he came into office; forgets he was fully vaccinated by Inauguration Day
By Susan Ampers
- (General Dispatch) — Seventy-eight-year-old Joe Biden, the oldest US president who took oath, stated in his speech on Tuesday that there was no Covid-19 vaccine when he took office but was fully vaccinated before his Inauguration Day.
- Biden mentioned that the United States lacked both vaccines and capable health workers to administer them when he moved into the White House last month.
- Biden uttered this statement though health workers had received their dose by the middle of December 2020, more than a month before he had sworn.
- “The biggest thing, though, as you remember when you and I — I shouldn’t say it that way as you remember — when you and I talked last week about, it’s one thing that the vaccine, which we didn’t have when we came into office, but a vaccinator. How do you get the vaccine into someone’s arm?” the president said.
- However, both the Pfizer/BioNTech and the Moderna vaccines were given emergency use authorization by the US Food and Drug Administration before Biden was sworn in on January 20.
- As a matter of fact, it was December 21, 2020, when Biden received his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
- In addition, this procedure was televised live to show Americans that the vaccine was safe.
- Furthermore, the president has also received his second shot of the vaccine on January 11 and about nine million Americans had already been vaccinated.
- Meanwhile, Biden’s statement that no vaccine is available when he entered the White House remains uncorrected.
