Russian Diplomat Infected Large Number of Poles with Coronavirus

  • (General Dispatch) – The Polish government raised an accusation against a Russian diplomat who tested positive for COVID 19; however Igor Oshchepkov did not comply with the isolation measures.
  • Igor Oshchepkov served as a consul in the city of Poznan, in western Poland, was tested in January and tested positive, this information was broadcast through a Polish state radio station TVP.
  • “Despite receiving information about coronavirus infection, the consul did not comply with sanitary regulations,” said Stanislaw Zaryn, head of Poland’s security services.

  • As a measure the Polish government requested the expulsion of the diplomat who left the country on February 8 in addition other similar expulsions were presented in Germany and Sweden because the Kremlin accused the mentioned countries of having supported insurgent groups that raised protests against the Russian government.
  • “Swedish, German and Polish diplomats who took part in unauthorized protest demonstrations in Moscow and St. Petersburg on January 23 are expelled from the country,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on February 5.
  • Lately the tension with Russian diplomats has been complicated after they have detected that Russia has been one of the biggest countries in presenting cases of COVID 19 about 4,311,893 cases and more than 90 thousand deaths. Although this type of information is under discussion, it is assumed that the figures are higher than those mentioned and the Kremlin has contributed to hide them.
