Ireland Suspends AstraZeneca Vaccine Due to Side Effects

  • By Joergen Haisem
  • (General Dispatch) – Ireland’s health ministry has issued a statement temporarily suspending the use of AstraZeneca’s vaccine because irregularities have been detected after the injection.
  • According to Norwegian regulators a study has been carried out in which people who have been inoculated have revealed “serious blood clotting events”, those affected are citizens between the ages of 30 and 40.
  • According to deputy chief medical officer Dr. Ronan Glynn said “following a report from the Norwegian Medicines Agency of four new reports of serious blood clotting events in adults following vaccination with the Covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccine.”
  • Dr. Glynn said that studies will continue, and he is hopeful that these effects are not directly from the AstraZeneca vaccine, to continue immunizations in the country.
  • In Northern Ireland, the distribution of the vaccines will not be suspended but any anomaly that may arise will be closely evaluated. So far, AstraZeneca is one of the pharmaceutical companies that have distributed the most doses due to its low cost.
  • The British regulator, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) issued a statement and said “given the large number of doses administered and the frequency with which blood clots can occur naturally, the available evidence does not suggest that the vaccine is the cause”.
  • Professor Adam Finn, member of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI) made a criticism, stressing that this type of planning cannot be suspended lightly, he implied that sometimes the body may act differently perhaps with certain mild symptoms, but if serious illnesses occur it cannot be attributed to the AstraZeneca vaccine, for that reason studies are necessary.
