- (General Dispatch) – Following the publication of the report issued by the World Health Organization, which failed to determine the origin of the coronavirus, the United States and the European Union are launching an independent investigation.
- Through a request signed by the European Union, the United States and thirteen other countries supporting the investigation, the UN received the document.
- In the meantime, the letter highlights China’s lack of cooperation in the conduct of the Wuhan investigation. As well as its concern for trying to hide information.
- The conclusion reached by the WHO in its attempt to discover the truth about covid-19 last Tuesday does not satisfy any of the health agencies, due to the aggressiveness of the virus.
- For this reason, the aforementioned countries are demanding that an objective and conclusive investigation be carried out to reveal the information needed to take a new course and put an end to the pandemic.
- WHO Director-General Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “I don’t think this assessment was extensive enough,” he said. “I hope that future collaborative studies will include a more comprehensive and timely exchange of data.”
- The request includes a special emphasis on China to cooperate with the team and not to limit access to specific sites that contain evidence that could be helpful in finding a way out of the crisis.
- It is expected that in the coming weeks China will make a statement and support the request issued by the countries that wish to clarify the facts.
