- (General Dispatch) – The Biden administration issued an order that senior DHS officials will not be allowed to give any information to the media about the current crisis at the border.
- One of the officials did not want to give his identification for his job security, he referred that the interaction with the media has increased unlike the former Trump administration. In accordance with the immigration crisis, Washington from now on will be in charge of issuing any communiqués.
- These measures were taken in view of the large number of immigrants who are trying to enter the country, in addition to the fact that many are being released thanks to one of President Biden’s orders.
- In addition, the DHS is experiencing internal conflicts among its personnel due to the censorship of information, and many officers have been infected with COVID 19.
- Henry Cuellar one of the US representatives said in an interview with Fox News “Now I know that they are bringing people from McAllen to Laredo, processing them in Laredo, and they are going to release them in my community. I’ve seen this before, don’t let the local communities know what you’re doing, where they’re starting to bring people in from the valley, process them in Laredo, release them at a bus station. And, again, I’ve seen this before in the past.”
- On March 6, a high-level visit was made by Biden administration National Policy Council Director Susan Rice, along with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, to several Texas cities to assess the situation.
- Unfortunately, this visit did not allow the participation of the media in the police stations and centers where a large number of immigrants and unaccompanied children are held in custody.
