Covid-19 at Alarming Levels in France

  • By John Deloria
  • (General Dispatch) –  The Paris AP media reported that COVID 19 cases have been increasing since the third wave was announced in Europe, health facilities are at their peak.
  • The new outbreak has been even more infectious, the numbers of patients in ICU are more than 4800 a similar amount to late autumn 2020, when France should have taken restrictions to decrease cases.
  • Doctors have announced that they have to prolong some medical care in ICU to give priority to incoming cases of coronavirus, however they fear for the number of patients admitted daily with respiratory problems.
  • However, President Emmanuel Macron has not considered increasing restrictions in an attempt to lower coronavirus levels, yet Macron feels no guilt about the wave of infections the nation is facing.
  • Macron said “There is no zero virus situations and that is true for all countries in Europe. We are not an island and even islands that had protected themselves sometimes saw the virus return, but we considered that with the curfew and the measures we had, we could cope.”
  • Until now France’s blocking measures have been to enforce a curfew and the closure of various premises or businesses, yet outdoor activities have been allowed, so an increase in cases was inevitable.
  • France has been one of the countries of the European block that has had one of the highest mortality rates with more than 93700, a figure that may increase drastically if new measures are not taken.
  • On the other hand, the facilities of patients who do not have COVID, are not performing the proper cleaning measures, which may further complicate the situation, endangering the lives of other patients suffering from other diseases.
