Survey says British Remain Reluctant to Physical Contact

  • By James Kravitz
  • (General Dispatch) – In a YouGov survey of 4085 adults confirmed that around 21% have made a physical gesture either a hug or kiss, despite not being quite sure they wanted to.
  • Eleven percent of respondents said they avoided any physical contact, making only gestures while keeping a measure of distance, 8% said they didn’t mind giving a handshake or other contact.
  • On the other hand 56% said they did not encounter any situation, possible effect that the population is being reluctant is the strict measures that the government had at the beginning of the pandemic, limiting their freedom.
  • In September last year, the British community began to be afraid since they announced the curfew for entering pubs after 10pm, being one of the reasons to support the authoritarian decisions of the Conservatives.
  • Other polls conducted said that citizens support certain measures of Minister Boris Johnson’s agenda of fining people who do not comply with the measures and a possible approval of the “vaccination passport”.
  • Desmond Swayne a Conservative MP has been astonished at the way the British community is adapting to measures that have limited their freedoms, which he sees as worrying.
  • However, the implementation of the vaccine passport is proving to be a measure that has generated debate, as some Conservatives and the Labour party are totally opposed to it being implemented.
  • For now, it is expected that different sites will be opened so that the British community can start to assume their freedom again, after several months of confinement.
