- (General Dispatch) – French President Emmanuel Macron has been astonished by the damage suffered by the Notre Dame cathedral after the voracious fire.
- Macron has predicted that the infrastructure will be fully restored by 2024, if not met; he will still order the opening, as the cathedral is an important tourist site for the nation and foreigners.
- The media reported Macron’s visit, who was guided through the staff working on the restoration, however the president praised the staff and said that teamwork must be maintained to achieve the objectives.
- Among these objectives is the completion of the work, since in 2024 France will host the Olympic Games, so the president set this goal.
- Even so, this goal may be far away, after an interview with one of the workers, since the restoration work began 2 years after the fire, making the completion date far away.
- For now, the work is expected to begin at the end of this year and will be led by retired French general Jean-Louis Georgelin, who accompanied Macron on the guided tour.
- “The goal is to hold a service in 2024. This is not to say that everything is finished, far from it. We will meet the deadline. We are reaching a critical point in the construction work, the end of the underwriting phase.” said Louis
- Patrick Chauvet, rector of Notre Dame, predicts that the construction can be completed in 15 to 20 years, money was raised through donations made by many countries, it is assumed that the cost is 800 million euros.
