Boris Johnson Announces Flexibility in the United Kingdom

  • By Jennifer Prill
  • (General Dispatch) – The restrictions imposed may begin to see some easing depending on the levels of the coronavirus, so far the blockades imposed may be lifted by June at the earliest allowing public meetings and business to be conducted.
  • The British will still have to comply with the blockade imposed by the government, with the appearance of some flexibility at the beginning of March; this type of action is on the agenda of Minister Boris Johnson, as long as it is subject to changes applied by the government.
  • The lockdown will be lifted somewhat by the date the coronavirus lockdown began in March 2020, and the options will allow only one person to meet and share with another person outdoors in parks or social areas.
  • Minister Boris says that people will be legally obliged to stay at home until March 29, aiming that when the lifting of the blockade is pronounced it will be in a total way and not having to go back to the same methods as when the pandemic started.
  • Johnson will apply a plan that will have approximately 4 dates with an interval of 5 weeks, starting on March 8, where the government will follow up to give some freedom to its citizens to carry out their daily activities.
  • The British had been told since April 2020 that the restrictions would be in place for three weeks and would not be lifted as they had to go through 5 phases. After a year, the measure adopted was questioned as the government maintained certain blockades at regional and national level.
  • The Prime Minister’s statement made it clear that although measures can be implemented to alleviate the situation regarding the blockade, society must bear in mind that even if the government applies a first dose of the vaccine, the virus will mutate, and decisions on the matter may be taken again.
  • The minister warned that in order to remove certain restrictions, people will have to comply with the tests on a mandatory basis twice a week, starting with children returning to the classroom, and that these tests will be free of charge.
