Liberal Democrats Against Vaccine Passport

  • By William Silgueiro
  • (General Dispatch) –  Minister Boris Johnson’s measures have been criticized by the Liberal Democrat party for wanting to implement the “vaccination passport” as a mandatory requirement.
  • Conservative Party member Michael Gove is leading Minister Boris’s measure and expects to unveil a report by the end of June, the “vaccine passport” will be a requirement for entry to various social sites.
  • Alistair Carmichael Liberal Democrat Party criticized the measure, said it is taking advantage over the population after coming out of the strict blockades imposed on Britons from not being able to leave their homes for months.
  • “Vaccine passports are a fundamental redefinition of the relationship between citizen and state. Basically, I do not consent to the government insisting that I prove my health status in relation to the coronavirus,” said the MP for Orkney and Shetland.
  • Vaccination passports may be a perfect measure to monitor the population for COVID 19 and provide statistical data in the short term in order to have an immediate response to the most vulnerable sectors.
  • However, it can be used for social discrimination, apart from the fact that nothing ensures that the data cannot be filtered through devices since it can be presented through QR code.
  • It should be noted that the vaccination passport could reveal the general health condition of the person, being a way to violate the privacy of the inhabitants.
  • On the other hand, members of the liberal party assume that this measure has a background and can be used for other purposes, including the government has funded technology companies to create facial identification software to be associated with the vaccine passport.
