- (General Dispatch) – U.S. Secretary Antony Blinken intends to propose abortion as a human rights issue, which has been evaluated and will be reported on in the annual report to the organization.
- The Biden administration hopes to take up this measure, proposing to the international community that the issue of abortion be taken up again, which will be put to a vote and a decision will be announced by the end of the year.
- The State Department will discuss “maternal mortality, access to contraception and reproductive health care” in order to encourage countries to legalize the practice of abortion.
- Since taking office, the Biden administration has repealed several policies that have been against abortion, including internal polls, and a large part of the population is against Biden’s decision.
- The African community, in disagreement with Biden’s measure, stated that it is against their values, since it is an attack on human life, including the unborn.
- A group called Culture of Life Africa started a campaign against Biden’s move, asking him to change his mind about supporting abortions and desist from influencing other countries.
- Nigerian human rights activist Obianuju Ekeocha said “Pundits in the corridors of Western power ignore the views and values of an entire nation to push their pro-abortion agenda.”
- The African government saw the move as racist and colonialist, as Biden’s funding to promote abortion is intended to reduce the population of developing countries.
