Muslims Protest in Jerusalem over Ramadan Restrictions

  • (General Dispatch) – Jerusalem was the scene of protests over clashes between security agencies with Palestinians angry over Ramadan restrictions and Jewish extremists.
  • Israeli police reported that at least 44 people were arrested, while 20 police officers were injured after clashes sparked by an anti-Arab march near the city.
  • In the first instance, tensions have risen considerably over the conflict between Israel and Palestine, given the significant interests in the holy sites shared by Jews, Christians and Muslims.
  • It is important to note that Palestinians have clashed with Israeli police every night since the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, provoking the wave of riots that have disrupted Jerusalem in recent days.
  • Consequently, the media was able to report that on Thursday night Palestinians threw stones and bottles at the police, who had to use security protocols to disperse the violent demonstration.
  • On the other hand, a group of extreme right-wing Jews called Lahava organized a march with hundreds of people shouting “Arabs, get out now!
  • The night was marked by violence and insults from both sides, and the prisoners were mixed between Arabs and Israelis.
  • Finally, the U.S. embassy called for an end to the conflict, expressing its concern about the social unrest that has arisen in recent weeks.
