- (General Dispatch) – The government agency Public Health England (PHE) conducted a study where it revealed that so far no deaths have been announced due to the Chinese virus.
- Britain was one of the nations with the most cases of coronavirus last year, in April 2020 in just one day there were 230 deaths recorded, a high number compared to other countries.
- According to the British government agency, over the course of the pandemic, a total of 708,000 cases of coronavirus have been reported, with more than 120,000 deaths, a high number despite the strict restrictions imposed by Boris Johnson.
- Jim Down, a doctor in intensive care at University College Hospital, advised the British government to focus on other diseases while COVID 19 remains at its lowest levels.
- Jim said “The backlog of people needing hip replacements and cancer treatment is enormous. We need to start bringing them back, but keep the hospitals ready in case of a third wave.”
- London mayoral candidate Laurence Fox saw as positive the measures that Minister Boris Johnson has taken in the week leading up to Easter, the best time for a loosening of restrictions.
- Johnson advised that “Despite today’s easements , everyone should continue to abide by the rules, remember hands, face, space and present themselves for a vaccination when called, don’t risk the process we have undertaken.”
- So far the government is evaluating to implement a health certificate, to enter closed places when they are reopened, besides that it will be a fundamental requirement at the time of national and international travel.
